Stijn Berkouwer was assistant conductor during Cosi fan Tutte at the Nederlandase Reisopera (Dutch Touring Opera). Previously he also assisted there during The Pearl Fishers and Madame Butterfly.
Stijn Berkouwer was assistant to Iván Fischer at the Konzerthausorchester Berlin during the Märzmusik Festival in 2015.
In October 2014 Stijn Berkouwer was assistant at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra under the baton of Antony Hermus with Prokofievs Cinderella.
In the Summer of 2014 Stijn Berkouwer has been invited to visit the Tanglewood festival in the United States as a guest of their conducting program. There he participated in a masterlass with Stefan Asbury.
In the Autumn of 2013 Stijn Berkouwer made a CD recording with the Sächsische Bläserphilharmonie with prizewinning works from composition competition of GEMA.
In the Summer of 2013 Stijn Berkouwer participated in a master class with David Robertson during the Lucerne Summer festival and he was in Hungary for a master class with Peter Eötvös. He also participated in master classes with Colin Metters in Zagreb en Johannes Schlaefli in Frankfurt Oder.
On the 25th of May 2013, together with an ensemble of the conservatory in Berlin, Stijn Berkouwer won the first prize for the interpretation of a work by Roberto Fausti during the Hanns Eisler Preis Competition for new music.
In March and April of 2013 Stijn Berkouwer was assistant to Manuel Nawri at the Deutsche Oper Berlin during Neue Szene, a project with three modern operas.
